The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), Contract and Grant Administration (CGA), and Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) will be observing MSU’s 2024 winter break from Tuesday, December 24, 2024 through Wednesday, January 1, 2025. OSP/CGA/SPA staff will not be working during this time and actions requiring our involvement (e.g. proposals, RPPRs, etc.) must be submitted to the appropriate office by noon on Friday, December 20, 2024.

Associate Vice President for Research, Sponsored Programs

Twila Reighley

Twila Reighley is the Associate Vice President for Research at Michigan State University.  She oversees two MSU centralized offices providing pre- and post-award administration.  Twila reports to both the VP for Research and Innovation and the Senior VP for Finance, CFO, and Treasurer.  Prior to joining MSU, she had 30 years’ experience at three state institutions:  AVP for Research at the University of Iowa, Director of Grants and Contracts at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center (now known as CU Anschutz Medical Campus), and positions of increasing responsibility in research administration at Arizona State University.

She has initiated/supported streamlining activities and has chaired faculty and administrative committees related to policy, process and implementation. Twila has managed during crises and major changes, including a natural disaster, relocation of the institution, and the opportunity to oversee implementation, as it related to sponsored activity of system-wide human resources and accounting systems implementations. Twila leads the Sponsored Programs Advisory Committee (SPAC), and regularly presents at the Council of Research Deans (CORD) and other university-level committees and workgroups.

Twila has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri.  She has served on the Boards for the Council on Governmental Relations (COGR) and National Council for University Research Administrators (NCURA). As well as chaired or participated on committees related to annual meetings, professional development, and research compliance.
